About The American Public House

The term ‘Public House’ appeared towards the end of the 17th century. Before then, alehouses were usually only for private members, whereas inns and taverns were open to everyone. A new type of establishment appeared that was open to all, but did not include accommodation. To distinguish them from alehouses, these new establishments were labeled ‘public houses. Shortened to the word ‘pub’, the name stuck and eventually became the generic name for all alehouses, taverns, and inns in the country.

American Public House is a true hybrid food establishment scheduled to open in May 2024 in Athens, Georgia.  As dawn breaks, an Espresso Bar offers great espresso drinks complemented by fresh breakfast pastries. As the day evolves, Public House morphs in to a "Fast Casual" lunch spot then an Irish Pub by night serving amazing food and 12 unique hand-crafted beers. Now, imagine all of this surrounded by an Irish Craft Brewery capable of producing 150,000 barrels of beer annually.

American Public House is a true “Sustainable Business” following the 3Ps of sustainability  known as People, Planet, and Profit or triple bottom line accounting. We believe in paying our employees a living wage, supporting community initiatives, and being a good environmental steward all while maximizing company profits.

Why Not Check Back from time to time to see how this new establishment is coming along. Over the next few months, we will be seeking comments on our menu designs, holding tastings to evaluate our signature craft beers and handing out samples of our culinary delights.
